Dear George,The Webmaster,
I checked my email a few minutes ago
AND was VERY pleased to find "my Saturday friend",i.e., above
subject!!! Thank you. I did take time to click on the photos you had
posted. My sister Betty was a classmate of Bob's- P.H.S. class of
'44. I was class of '40 and did not know Bob in high school but I did
get to Knew him via his weekly paper, and enjoyed his work. I am
looking forward to the " future updates" to be posted on the web site.
I shall now enjoy reading Book
2Volume 7 which I printed.
Please give our love to Queen. -My

Dear George, and all of the Elliston
family,
You were exceedingly generous to
provide these most moving memories of
"Bobby" and of his history with
Queen. Reading the Press each week gave me
glimpses into the joy of your
parent's life and their love. You have added
beautiful frosting to that
cake. They suffered grief with such respect and
compassion, yet managed to put
incredible energy and pleasure into each day.
That they shared that gift was
a blessing to all who knew them. It showed
in Bob's pictures, and was always
evident in the way he wrote of their
friends and family.
My sincerest "thank you!" to Queen
for indulging all those hours that Bob
spent on the web, bringing us back to
our town. And for letting his
readers experience home and life with
her dear husband. We are richer for
getting to know you. And thank
you, George, for this exquisite eulogy to
your dad/uncle. Precious in
both categories.
Palmerton's loss of an outstanding
citizen is also a loss to those of Bob's
readers who were able, through him,
to recapture and update so much of our
home town. That will always
remain dear to us.
If I understood you correctly there
may be notices and such in the future
under the Palmerton Press. I
would be grateful if my address were included.
It would be kind of you also,
if you could notify me of the date of the
memorial service.
My warmest thoughts to you all.

George and all,
What a wonderful tribute!
My heart goes out to all of you. I
know he will be missed greatly by all,
but especially by Aunt Ruth. As
I told her yesterday when I called her, I
was out of town for work and rarely
check my email daily anyway. I called
her as soon as I read it.
I'm sure it will be hard for her but
at least she has a strong, close family
for support. Although, I knew her the
least of the three, I've always felt
she was the strongest sister. I hope
she can continue to "hang in there".
My dad's death was unexpected too and
it's never easy but I would much
rather go that way, than be a
vegetable for 10 yrs, like my mom.
I asked Ruth if there was anything I
could do or if there was any place I
could send a donation in memory of
Bob and she said no. If anything comes to
mind after later, please let me know.
Again, my sincere condolences to the
whole family.
Love,
Jackie

pictures and thoughts of Bob with all of

Thank you very much.
I hope you consider placing all of
the Palmerton Press weeklys on CD or
DVD to offer them for sale [perhaps
pre sell] to his readers. I
certainly am willing to pay for my
portion of the costs of reproduction,
labeling, packaging, shipping and a
profit margin just to have a copy of
all his weekly issues.
Thanks, Dave Blynn

Thank you for sending the final issue
of the Palmerton newspaper and for
including his death notice from the
local newspaper and the pictures. I
pray his Queen and all the family are
well and doing ok.

I wish you enough.

To Queen and family,
Norm and I are so very sorry to hear
about the loss of Bob. I just
received an email from him a few days
ago explaining your "bus stop." It
is hard to imagine that someone who
was so refreshing is gone. We just got
to "know" him lately. I have read all
of his archived issues. I hope you
will keep the site up for awhile.
Queen, although we have only met
through email, our thoughts and prayers
are with you at this time. Bob
brought those of us in other places a
rememberance of Palmerton and his
pictures of the sights around town were
great to see.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the
entire Elliston family. Although I have been gone from Palmerton for
many years, Bob's newsletter was a link with my roots in the best
little town on the planet. Through his eyes, I rediscovered the essence
of good living, the beauty of lasting friendships and the need to enjoy
each passing day. And for me, that is Bob's legacy.

I was shocked and saddened to read of
the passing of Bob Elliston. Although we never met, I can tell you that
I always looked forward to reading his "epistle". One element was very
evident in reading all the editions of The Palmerton Press and that was
his great love for his family. Please accept my condolences on the loss
of this very special man. Queen, you and your family will be in my
thoughts and prayers. I will miss Bob and his weekly reports of
Palmerton happenings. He was truly one of a kind. May God bless him and
you.

Dear Queen and family:
I feel comfortable calling you that
after reading Bob's dissertations every week. He made everyone feel
like part of your family.
I was truly shocked and saddened to
hear of Bob's passing. He was so full of life and enthusiasm. One
thought he would go on forever.
We only met once, in passing, at
Pattie Mihalik's home after Andy died, when my wife and I were paying
our respects and you came to the house as we were leaving. But through
his commentaries every week I felt I knew Bob a lot better, and I
wished I had. He was certainly a good friend of The TIMES NEWS.
My condolences to your family.
Palmerton has certainly lost a special person. And his final "Palmerton
Press" from Dec. 25, 2004, wll stay on my computer as a reminder of the
good people we sometimes come in contact with in this business.

What does one say at a difficult time
like this, except that though I did not know Bob personally, Judy
Davies Schwartz and I have been best friends forever, so I well recall
all the time Tommy Davies and Bob spent together. Also, my dad was very
fond of both the "Elliston boys" and I do recall their coming to fix
our tv's quite often.
Most of all, I felt I knew Bob
through the most enjoyable Palmerton Press. We will all miss his weekly
reports - He obviously loved life and his family. I do hope you can all
dwell on the countless happy memories you share of him and know that he
was very special to countless Palmertonians.
Bless you all,

To the Elliston family:
The Lehigh Gap Historical Society
-and myself - wish to express our
profound sympathy on the loss of our
dear friend, Bob. Because of Bob's
"love" of the computer, an email
seemed to be such an appropriate way to do
so. Every week I printed out the
newsletter and filed them in the society's
reporitory. Add to that, our project
of microfilming the original Palmerton
Press issues, the Elliston legacy is
well preserved. Whenever I complimented
Bob on his efforts and how beautiful
his pictures printed out, he would
laugh and say, "Why would you want to
save my stuff?"
He is already truly missed.

I am sorry to hear of Bob's passing.
We were classmates at PHS.
I have received the weekly Palmerton
Press for about 3 months and it was very interesting. I looked forward
to reading it. Since I haven't lived in Palmerton for over 50 years, I
didn't recognize many of the names but I do remember Barbara Shepard,
George Ashman and Howard Cyr. The pictures showing changes in town were
very informative.
I know he will be missed.

Dear Elliston Family, Especially
Bob's Queen,
I am shocked and saddened to hear
about Bob Elliston's passing. He was
one of a kind and a special one. I
read his weekly pages with much
interest, but the best part was
always hearing about his love for his
wife, the meals they shared, working
together, and the walks they often
took together and what an honor it
was to hold her hand. He felt blessed
to have her as his wife and was so
proud to be her husband.
He had a special way of telling about
his daily life. He made ordinary
daily life an adventure and often
made us think beyond day to day living
and appreciate the simple
things....things we take for granted. We often
chuckled as we read his pages and his
honest opinions and felt the
happiness and humor that came through
with them. He was a unique man and
I feel blessed to have known him,
even though it was through his e-mails
that we met. He often referred to me
as a cousin and maybe we are, since
I am also an Elliston. Bob Elliston
may not dine in "God's Restaurant"
again with his sweet Queen, but he'll
always be in her heart. Maybe God
needed a new editor-in chief, so he
took one who saw life in a different
way.....for what it really is. We
send our sympathy to all his family
and his precious Queen. We are all
blessed to have known him. I'll never
forget him. God Bless each of you.
With love and Sympathy,
Audrey
P.S. Please send the name of the
newspaper that will have his obit. I
would like a copy.
I wish you enough.

I am reminded that when Bob first
told of Walter's passing, he stated that he was in a state of shock and
at a loss for words, as am I now. I am also reminded of what Bob
recently wrote re the Transitory Life, and Dr. Nicholson's statement

Dear "Queenie" and family,
I was stunned to read of Bob's
passing. It just didn't seem possible that
there would be no more of his
philosophy coming to us through his Palmerton
Press. But he certainly lived life to
the very end!
I've just read Patty Mihalik's
tribute to Bob in the Saturday Times News. I
KNEW her article today would be about
him. She really has a gift for words,
and oh, how he enjoyed her writing!
I hope you don't mind that I take
this means of getting in touch with you.
I know the address is 200 block of
Columbia Avenue, but I also know some
Post Offices are getting picky about
incomplete addresses.
I really don't remember Bob from my
growing up years in Palmerton. Dick
Kelton, who lived across the alley
from Bob put me in touch with him and his
newsletter several years ago. I lived
at 231 Princeton Avenue and was
several years younger. I always
looked forward to reading the paper -
seeing mention of people and events I
remembered from years past.
You all have my deepest sympathy and
prayers in your loss - our loss,
really. Bob most certainly enjoyed
every day God gave him.
